Robbie and Sharon had traditional South Indian Syrian Orthodox Christian ceremony, and it was just as awesome as the name might lead you to believe. I was especially looking forward to shooting this wedding since the three of us had such a fun day exploring Washington D.C. for their engagement session. Oh, and I absolutely have to mention how I will forever love Robbie and Sharon for displaying this photo:
at their reception. Love it! :-)
Their wedding day was full of tradition and family and friends and COLOR! Not to mention my favorite groom, first glimpse of bride, reaction ever.
But first things first…when I showed up, Sharon couldn’t have been more relaxed. She was listening to her ipod and getting made up and greeting bridesmaids as they arrived. It was a great atmosphere.
I love the classic feel of this one as Sharon gets ready.
Peacocks on Sharon’s hands and feet to match the peacock feathers in the bouquet.
The ceremony began at Sharon’s house and then continued on to the church.
When Sharon appeared at the back of the church with her dad, Robbie’s eyes immediately filled with tears and he had to look away, fighting them back. I love the expression on his face. Such a great moment.
Sharon catches Robbie’s eye as her dad lifts her veil.
Time for posed photos was extremely limited, but we managed to grab a few in front of this awesome old piano near the church, before heading off to the reception.
Robbie, Sharon and their bridal party performed a choreographed dance right after the first dance. It was…um…awesome! It ended with them being engulfed in a sea of family and friends. I would like to request that any future brides do this sort of dancing because it makes for great moments.
Finally, we ended with some quick formals outside the reception.
It was an awesome day. I really can’t say that enough. I am so, so happy that I got to be a part of it.
Thank you Robbie and Sharon…and enjoy!
Katie, these are awesome to the 93059345803958th power. Thank you so much!
Also, if anyone wants some pointers re: surprise wedding dances, we can give lessons! ;-)
I’m glad you were there to capture the moments I wasn’t able to. I got teary-eyed at your captured shot of Robbie’s first glimpse of his bride. You did an awesome job with the engagement pictures and am looking forward to the wedding album.
Thank you for sharing the most important day of our lives.
Nancy (Robbie’s mom)
These are beautiful!! I love the one of her dad lifting her veil – such a great moment! And I always love your reception images – it looks like SUCH a fun time! :-) And the colors are gorgeous. :-)
WOW! The preview shot had me so excited to see the rest and these did not disappoint. The shots are gorgeous and they seem like such an awesome couple–especially with that shot they displayed at their reception ;)
What wonderful pictures; like the old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” The expressions caught in those special moments are priceless. It brought back the wedding for me and with its beautiful liturgy was one of the loveliest I’ve ever witnessed. Continue good luck to the newly weds!
