Snapshots from Boston | Family Photographer

In the beginning of August, we took a little trip up to Boston for a long weekend with Jason’s parents and brothers. We had a great time and it was so fun to see Florence and her cousin Madeline playing together. These are just a few of my favorite photos from the weekend. :-)

If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen this photo of Jason, and the caption, wherein he laments the lack of pickle dessert options.

Behold, a birthday pickle! (It’s also sort of reminiscent of this throwback birthday “cake.” If you can’t tell, Jason prefers savory foods.)

Baby Fashion Shoot | Haverford Children Photographer

Earlier this week, the Bugabugs and I went to Haverford College and did a little photo shoot. I made a few outfits for her earlier in the year, starting with this dress, and I wanted to capture her in them before she completely outgrows them. *Sniff sniff.*

Getting a one and a half year old to cooperate for four outfit changes with accompanying hairstyling when you’re coming up on nap time, was as challenging as it sounds. I bribed her with raisons, the least exciting bribe ever, but it seemed to work. All things considered, I think the shoot was a success! She fell asleep on the walk back to the car (she never does that, far too nosey) so in the tiring out department, it was a HUGE success.

First up, this dress which I made from a Japanese pattern book that I had to translate into English and then also size down. HAHAHA!!! I guess I like a challenge. I don’t think you can tell in these photos, but I missed the mark a little with the size and had to raise the shoulders. Oh well, maybe it will fit next year too!

This skirt was actually the last thing that I made and I don’t think I screwed it up at all. Hooray! It was really easy and I think she can keep wearing it layered into the Fall. I’m also more than a little in love with the sweatshirt that we picked up at the JCrew Factory Store.

This shirt is by far my favorite! I was inspired by this post and used this pattern. I sort of messed this up in that I meant to do the dress and accidentally cut the skirt too short, but I still like how it turned out and it has pockets!! Yay! She diva-fied the outfit with the addition of the sunglasses that she demanded to wear. :-)

Last but not least is the dress that I started with. I still love it and since it’s white, I like how I can mix it up with some color splashes. Florence loves a cardigan, so she’s a big fan of this outfit.

That is all. Hopefully when I get a little less busy with photos in the Winter, I can get back into it. I have a whole stack of beautiful fabric just waiting to be turned into adorable dresses. First up will be her Halloween costume though! I’m already starting to brainstorm. :-)

By the way…mini sessions this Fall are at this super beautiful college campus! :-O Contact me if you’d like to snag a spot.

Beach Baby | Ocean City Documentary Photographer

Last weekend, we decided to take a day trip and head to Ocean City, NJ to play in the water and visit with my friend, Lauren. Florence loves everything and anything having to do with water, so we knew it would be a fun day for her.

Sadly, I am not always the most prepared person and I forgot…well…basically everything. We went with no beach towels, no beach chairs, no sand toys, no hat for Florence and, most catastrophically, NO STROLLER! If you are a parent, then you know how terrible that is. Florence is just at that age where if she’s not strapped into something, she does not want to be held, she wants to walk. And if you’ve been to the boardwalk in Ocean City in August, you know that a one and a half year old meandering aimlessly back and forth is well, a nightmare.

No stroller also meant that there wasn’t really any good place for Florence to nap. She did nap on me for about an hour, but by the end of the day she was done. There was screaming, there was crawling down the boardwalk and there was falling asleep at dinner.

Outside of that parenting fail that resulted in a completely overtired baby, we had so much fun. Florence thoroughly enjoy the ocean, the pool, the shower, and after some getting used to it, the sand. We will be back, and next time I will not forget the stroller (I’ll probably forget the bathing suit ;-).

Tara & Florence & a preview | Brooklyn Engagement Photographer

We just got back from a few days in NYC being spoiled by the best cousins in the world. I just wanted to share a couple of photos of Florence and her cousin/best friend, Tara. Tara ran up and down the hall with her, sang to her, let her make random phone calls on her phone and eat almost anything she wanted. So it’s really not all that surprising that Florence is completely in love with her. <3

This was also a bit of a working trip. I snuck away on Thursday night to take a few engagement photos of Kira and her fiance Jose, whose wedding I will be the maid of honor at in a couple of months. I’d say we got lucky with a pretty sunset, wouldn’t you? Here are just a couple of preview photos.
