Family Photos 365 – Week 11

March 12, 2021 – 71 of 365 – I told her to put on a coat to go to the park. She put on a baby blanket worn as a cape. I accepted the compromise.

March 13, 2021 – 72 of 365 – A Florence-cat in her natural habitat–playing The Legend of Zelda to pass the time. (Side note, my goal now is to write captions that amuse my kids and make them laugh. It is my greatest weekly accomplishment.)

March 14, 2021 – 73 of 365 – First carriage ride of the season.

March 15, 2021 – 74 of 365 – Two. I love this age–so sweet and sassy and emotional and innocent and curious and delightful. The perfect mix of the baby who still needs you and the big girl who is figuring the world out on her own.

March 16, 2021 – 75 of 365 – This is Vi’s happy place. She has always been an anxious dog and since we’ve been home with her aaaaaall the time this last year, she is taking it extra hard when we go out and leave her alone. It is fortunate for her that she also is the sweetest.

March 17, 2021 – 76 of 365 – Hair salon time. Florence has been making all of these little adorable creatures with her craft kit and she asked me to make a nest in her hair for the chick she made. I may be imagining it because I saw him fall out about 10 times, but I feel like the chick’s expression is saying “help!”

March 18, 2021 – 77 of 365 – “What is this furniture you speak of? All I see is a jungle gym.” -Florence, pretty much every day

Family Photos 365–Week 10

March 5, 2021–64 of 365 – Lou still wants to be the baby. If you try to call her a big girl, she will correct you. With her being our youngest, and last baby, I am completely fine with that. And how fortunate for her that she is the baby and won’t have to fight some new baby for our attention.

March 6, 2021–65 of 365 – I don’t know, I think it may be time for three chairs at the island.

March 7, 2021–66 of 365 – After creating an incredible amount of mess throughout the house, Julia moved on to the stairs, setting up separate rooms for her dolls up and down the steps. Very safe and sensible for sure.

March 8, 2021–67 of 365 – Whenever I see the first signs of spring, I think of the scene from The Secret Garden where they discover that the garden is “wick”–alive. When we’re just coming out of a long, snowy winter with short, dark days, I don’t think there is any better feeling in the world than seeing everything in the garden come to life.

Florence created a little brunch/restaurant experience for her sisters. Jason and I were the cooks. Jason and I are always the cooks.

March 9, 2021–68 of 365 – Spring means open windows all day, every day.

March 10, 2021–69 of 365 – Grandma’s first day back without masks and WITH a full vaccination!!!!! Louisa couldn’t hang from the excitement. And now Julia keeps asking me if people are “fully vaccinated.” It is a strange world we live in.

March 11, 2021–70 of 365 – Kisses for mom through the screen, because the windows were open. Have I mentioned the windows were open? They were. They were open.

Spring has slowly become my favorite season since having kids and this year it is “MY FAVORITE!!!”–all caps, exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point.

Tiny flowers in a tiny vase for Julia’s calico critters doll house.

Please note the shriveled, old snowman carrot under Louisa’s seat. Sorry snowman, but I’m not sad to see you gone.

Family Photos 365 – Week 9

February 26, 2021 – 57 of 365 – Bring on the spring weather. “Yay!”

February 27, 2021 – 58 of 365 – If you’re going to watch tv, do it in style.

March 1, 2021 – 59 of 365 – I always say it is more dangerous being a second or third child. In a single day this week, Louisa got kicked in the head with a tap shoe (Julia) and had her hand stepped on (Florence). But you also get a lot more love and laughs as a second or third born. So I think it kind of balances out in the end.

March 2, 2021 – 60 of 365 – Louisa’s first dentist appointment! Julia went first to show her the ropes and Louisa was very brave. She did insist that I hold her hand the entire time, but I had  no complaints about that.

March 2, 2021 – 61 of 365 – This is the face of a child who was woken up from nap for her zoom dance class and is not in the mood for any of your nonsense.

March 3, 2021 – 62 of 365 – Florence is such a mini version of me. After we talked about potentially moving their rooms around at bedtime, she went ahead and drew this diagram of what she thinks their new play/work space should look like. Now she and I will have to work together for the final design. I’m not sure about her dresser full of stuffed animals, but I can get on board with the baskets for toys and table for flowers.

March 4, 2021 – 63 of 365 – Bedtime–the most chaotic two hours of the day.

Family Photos 365 – Week 8

February 19, 2021 – 50 of 365 – Julia delivers a better nap time – story time experience than I do. That’s just fact. Louisa always requests her if she’s home and I’m unclear if it’s a stall tactic or a preference, but I embrace it nonetheless. Also, the matching nightgowns…I cannot.

February 20, 2021 – 51 of 365 – Same day, different light…and different look.

February 21, 2021 – 52 of 365 – Self portrait. I did not take a single photo of my own children this day, but I took hundreds of a baby being born. It was a good day.

February 22, 2021 – 53 of 365 – Before dinner today, I gave Louisa a banana. Whenever she gets to the last part of a banana, she requests the peel be removed so she can hold what remains, sans peel. I don’t understand what exactly happened this day, but she decided not to eat that last bit of banana and instead held on to it for hours. Just toddling around, going about her business with a banana buddy. She even ate her entire dinner while grasping and refusing to give up what was by this point a disgusting banana mush that she had no intention of eating. She is a mysterious one sometimes, this child.

February 23, 2021 – 54 of 365 – Julia’s preschool asks that the kids bring in a board full of pictures of them for their in school birthday celebration. This tradition has become something that I really appreciate and look forward to. Including Florence’s boards…this is our fifth! We still have every one and the kids look at them often.

February 24, 2021 – 55 of 365 – Julia had one request for her birthday cake–trick candles. As you can see, even expecting them, they were still quite a surprise.

February 25, 2021 – 56 of 365 – If you’re keeping count, we are three birthdays in for February. By this point, Lou was sick of none of those birthdays being hers. In fact, when I brought down Julia’s birthday presents on her birthday, Louisa thought for sure one must be for her. When I informed her that they were sadly all for Julia, she burst into tears.

It’s okay though, Louisa took matters into her own hands. On her zoom music class, as I was leaving the room to collect her instruments, I heard the teachers ask about the hat she was wearing. Without missing a beat, Louisa said, “It’s my birthday!” By the time I returned, they had wished her happy birthday and decided to sing to her! So Louisa can now say that she celebrated her birthday in February too.
