Kristen and Drew

A while back I did an engagement session for my good friend Kristen and her fiance Drew. I have known Kristen since my days of singing in children’s choir and somehow we’ve managed to stay friends through all the years. I can’t even believe how much time has passed since we were spending our Saturdays at sing-ins and in Ocean City, NJ “on tour”. :-)

It was my pleasure to do this shoot for Kristen and Drew before they headed out to law school in freezing Michigan. The East Coast was very sad to see them go…but I know that they are working hard and will do amazing things once they’ve graduated. These are a couple of my favorites…

At the end of the shoot, Kristen asked if we could get a few with her girls (her family’s pets who she was pretty devastated to be leaving). I’m so glad that we did. Unfortunately their golden, Chloe, passed away at the end of November. Although Kristen wasn’t able to be there with her at the end, I think these pictures show how much they loved each other. :-)

Katie & Dave Engagement

KDIMG_1891_bw

After postponing our original session because of a rainy forecast we eventually wound up shooting Katie & Dave’s engagement session on an extremely humid day with ominous looking clouds threatening the whole time. Oh weather, WHY have you been so bad this year?! The rain held off though and we didn’t let the sticky air stop us from having a great session. We shot at The Waterworks and The Art Museum. Even though I’ve shot there before, it is such a beautiful location that it’s always fun to explore it with a new couple.

Katie and Dave were great in front of the camera and made it really easy for me to get cute moments with the two of them. These are just a few of my favorites.

Katie & Dave Preview

On Sunday, I had a great time with Katie & Dave shooting some engagement photos and getting to know each other a bit better. They were so cute together and I can’t wait to share more from their session. Here is just a little preview for now.

Luckily we just missed both the morning storm, and the night storm. :-) This was one of the last shots and as I took it, very ominous looking clouds were rolling in over the river and the rain was starting to come down.

Weezie & Rod

WR_Bridge

When I first met with Weezie & Rod to discuss the details of their wedding in November, they mentioned that they’d like to do some engagement photos on the Brooklyn Bridge like they’d seen on my website. When I said that that would only really work at dawn (when there aren’t so many bikers and runners and walkers) they didn’t skip a beat before saying that was totally fine with them. How could I not love them? :-) So a few weeks ago, I headed onto the bridge to meet them at dawn. I as a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a striking sunrise, but I think the foggy photos really have their own charm. Kind of haunting.

The Brooklyn Bridge is perfect location for these two. So classic.

I love this one.

Weezie wore a simple black dress and brought a few colored scarves to trade off. I thought that was so smart. The little splash of color worked perfectly. They look so chic here.

After we finished up on the bridge, we headed into the Financial District (I think???) to find this little gem of a street. At any rate, I dont’ think I could ever find it again there were so many winds and turns to get there. It was absolutely adorable though.

I think this street feels like it could be in Europe for some reason.

Last stop…a park near Weezie & Rod’s apartment. At this point the sun was out in full force and it started to get hot.

My name is Katie! I love color and pretty light and happy faces and sessions that include all of those things. Photographing families like yours, capturing the essence of what makes you unique, is my passion. I want to get to know you and to tell a story that is authentically yours.
