New Baby | Media Documentary Newborn Photographer

I was suuuuuper excited and admittedly a tiny bit nervous when Jane asked me to do photos of brand new baby Nathan. It always puts me a little bit more on edge when I am photographing another photographer, but I should have known that I had nothing to worry about. Jane and Ted are so laid back and you can always count on pets to spice up a session. I could have hung out and photographed them all day. I think it would have even been quite enjoyable to photograph them eating the free samples in Costco (we joked that that is about as exciting as they get with a new baby at home). ;-)

We decided to do a Storybook session. Of course this session has a much calmer feel than any of my previous storybook sessions, but I think it perfectly captures the sweet monotony of having a tiny little baby at home. I know from experience that the day to day is all very much the same during that time (snuggling, feeding, changing diapers), but somehow you manage to forget it all anyway! I am so glad that I got to capture a piece of it for Jane and Ted.

Nathan is the cutest little thing. The great thing about photographing him when he was a bit older was that he just looooved gazing adoringly into the camera. That hair, amazing! So I’ll end my blabbering on here and let you admire him for yourself.

Oliver’s Arrival! | Philadelphia Birth Photography

A week ago today, I had the best day ever! I was lucky enough to be in the delivery room to capture Oliver’s much anticipated arrival into the world.

Lauri did the most amazing job capturing Florence’s birth, so needless to say, there was a LOT of self-imposed pressure to do a great job. [Side note: I just looked back through those photos now and I somehow love them even more than I did then. How is that even possible?!]

Since this was Lauri’s second baby and Finley had come the day before her due date, I spent the three weeks leading up to the delivery anxiously awaking in the middle of the night to check my phone and make sure that I hadn’t missed a call. Of course the little stinker decided to come a few days late instead of early. :-) When I got the call at 5:30am last Wednesday, I was beyond excited. You would have thought that I was having the baby. I wound up getting to the hospital around 11am and things quickly progressed until she was ready to push a bit before 4. I feel like the birth story is Lauri’s to tell, but I have to say that just being in the room when he was born was an incredible adrenaline rush and although I’m not a big crier, I totally cried! I really can’t even put into words what an honor it was to capture all the love and happy emotions and hard work that went into Oliver’s birth. If you are on the fence about having your own delivery photographed, I can tell you first hand that you should absolutely do it! I know there are lots of reasons why people say they wouldn’t want to do it, but there is nothing that can compare to having the first few moments after your baby is born captured.

Soooo…in honor of his one week birthday, here are the photos from Oliver’s delivery!

And here is the slideshow of Oliver’s birth.

Have you ever seen anyone look so lovely after pushing out a baby?!

Four | Plymouth Meeting Newborn Photographer

I LOVE photographing this family so much. I just counted and I think I’ve done a total of 6 sessions with them including minis. Holy cow!

On this particular day, big brother was still getting adjusted to being a big brother and was really great, but also very much did not want to wear pants. Unfortunately, his parents thought that the pictures would be much better if he were wearing pants (I think I have to side with the parents on this one). In the end, after changing into pjs and a nap, he was sooooo much happier and I think we got some of my favorite sibling pictures ever (see below…sigh). :-)

Little brother was so cooperative and sweet. He was awake and then slept and just did all the right things.

I think this was for sure big brother’s favorite picture to pose for. :-)

If you didn’t see the lovely album that they got with their digital files, you can take a peek here!

Mother’s Day Special!

As a photographer with a husband who is pretty much allergic to cameras, I am very rarely in our family snapshots. There are lots of photos of Jason reading to Florence and walking with Florence and snuggling with Florence when she was a little baby. Me, not so much. (Although I have gotten very talented at the extra extended arm selfie, if I may say so myself.) Maybe that’s part of the reason that I’m so passionate about capturing all those special family moments for others. In the end, it’s not the pretty smile at the camera photos that will mean the most (although, I do love those too) it’s all the little moments that happen on a daily basis. Soooo…for Mother’s Day, I have an extra special BIG deal. If you book your Storybook session before next Sunday, May 18th, you get a FREE spot at one of my mini session days. FREE! That means you get the in home, real moment session and the pretty smile at the camera session too! Plus, you not only get the digital files from your storybook session, but also an album. See? Really, big deal!

Here are all the fun details!

I’m only going to be giving away a limited number of these combos, so contact me ASAP if you’re interested in snapping one up. :-)
