Lauren & her Sitar

For the past 5+ years, I’ve passed a spot on the side of the highway that is so gorgeous in the Fall, that I always tell myself that I have to shoot there sometime. I also always worry that I’m going to drive by one year and the trees are going to be gone and it’s going to have become a housing development or gas station. God forbid. So when my friend Lauren asked me to take some photos of her with her sitar, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to combine her shoot with mine. And let me tell you, no one can rock a beaded gold gown on the side of a highway like Lauren.

All of the people passing by in their cars must have thought we were quite crazy. It was totally worth it though!

And just because I don’t often get photos of me working, this is an iphone photo that Lauren took of me. Thank you Lauren. ;-)

Happy Snowy Saturday!

Baby Benito

This is another oldie newborn session from last April that I just had to share. I had a great time hanging out with this family and loved all of mom’s great ideas for the shoot. And this goes without saying, but Benito was just the sweetest little guy.

These are a few of my favorites.

K Family

I love, love, loved my session with this family. Kate had contacted me to set up the shoot because her and her husband needed some new professional shots, they hadn’t gotten any photos together since their wedding and she wanted to include their two adorable dogs in some shots. She also wanted to include her parents in the shoot which I was very much excited about. I find that professional family photos are usually reserved for special occasions like weddings once kids have grown up and moved out…but really, why should that be the case? So anyway, in the heart of the fall I headed out to their home for the shoot. They were funny and quick to laugh and willing to tramp through the soggy weeds to sit on a dead tree trunk. What more could you ask for? Here are some of my favorites from their session.

Nate’s First Birthday!

I absolutely love photographing first birthday parties. My favorite part is capturing all the sweet little moments between the family and the guest of honor. Since that was my favorite part of weddings too (except replace the baby with a bride and groom) I guess it sort of takes me back to my wedding days.

This birthday party certainly did not disappoint when it came to sweet moments. It was an intimate group of just Nate’s closest family and he enjoyed being passed around from one family member to the next, all of whom obviously love him a ton! I also have to mention that Nate is perhaps the sweetest most laid back baby I have ever encountered and there wasn’t anything that happened during the day that he didn’t seem to thoroughly enjoy. That made it extremely difficult for me to narrow down my selection of photos for this post. Somehow I managed to and these here are just some of my favorites from the day.

This sequence made me laugh when it happened and also when I was editing the photos. Love.

Look at that sweet little face!

I love how Grandmom is watching Mom interact with Nate. So sweet!

Nate received many awesome presents, including a guitar that was just his size. Is that not adorable!?

…and even though Nate was probably hours past due for his nap time, he was good enough to let us get a few group shots before the day ended.
