Soooo…I have been back for a week and this is my first blog entry. Yup, I’m as good at keeping the blog up to date as I was with the travel journal. Whoops.
The trip didn’t exactly go as planned. There was a lot of rain. I feel sort of dumb for going to England and not expecting a lot of rain. I mean…I expected rain, I expected a shower here and there, dreary weather in general, maybe a day or even two of downpours. i brought my raincoat in a sack and my cable knit sweater that I wear when I don’t care how I look, but only care about being warm. I wasn’t at all prepared for what the weather actually was though, 75% downpours and walking around in soaking wet jeans (ugh…even thinking about it now my legs feel all itchy and constricted!). Don’t take that to mean we didn’t have a great time though. Really in the end it’s all fun and part of what is great about traveling…the stories after the fact. :-) It would have been nice if the Gods had smiled on me though and given a little more sunshine to help me convince Jason that travel provides invaluable experiences and is a worthwhile investment.
Also, who knew that the dollar was so weak???!!! I’m kidding…that I totally expected. But seriously…painfully bad. No more trips to Europe for me until there is some sort of big turn around.
I think the thing I was most sad about was the lack of photo time for me. Two things stood in the way of that. #1. After the first day of trying to man my big camera in the rain and enjoy the sight seeing and not get soaked through, I nixed that and started taking my point-and-shoot when it was raining. #2. Jason is impatient. I can kind of understand. I’m sure I’d be annoyed if I were trying to walk from one place to another with a purpose and the person I was walking around with kept stopping and looking at things and walking off without telling me. I guess that’s sort of what it’s like…and that would for sure be annoying.
Here is a photo of Jason being impatient, while I do a self take in the rain. :-)
A nice one of Jason, Amy and I in the London Eye.
Amy getting ready to take a bite out of Big Ben in the London Eye…CHOMP!
Jason and some of the “street art” painted outside the Tate Modern.
And now get ready for the greatest photo ever taken of me…
Oh yeah, HOT! This was taken on the day that I lost my raincoat in a sack. Aaaand it only got worse from here. I can’t even show you the even worse photo that I took of myself this day. It is too horrible…this will have to do as representation for the unpleasantness that was the weather.
I’ll post lots more photos soon…this was just a teaser. :-)
I love the pictures! And I can’t wait to see more!!!!!
that photo of you is HOT!!!
