When I first talked to Sam about ideas for Sam and Brad’s engagement session, she asked if I thought it would be okay if we did sort of a “date night in the city” kind of thing. Of course I told her that that was a great idea. I love when couples think of locations or themes for their session that really represent who they are as a couple…and Sam and Brad love going out in the city. Pefect! During the shoot, the city location made even more sense though when I got to hear the story of how Brad proposed. Not only was Brad able to surprise Sam with a NYC proposal (I’m always impressed with surprise proposals in general) but he also had both of their parents join them at their dinner reservations in NYC that night to celebrate. I think it takes special skills to pull something like that off.
When we met up at the park, they both just looked so chic. And check out Sam’s shoes. LOVE them! I couldn’t believe that she was able to walk clear across the city in those. My feet hurt for her by the end of the session. :-)
I loved how they just cracked each other up.
Our original plan involved us ending in a restaurant for some shots. Unfortunately, the restaurant where we were originally going to end up was closed on the day of the session. Soooo…instead we did some shots in front of the delicious and very photogenic, Alma de Cuba. Yum, I highly recommend.
This shot just makes me smile. :-) I love it.
These two make me smile too.
After walking clear across the city, Sam’s feet did hurt I bit. :-) So we elected to take a cab back to our starting point. No better way to end a city date night shoot I think.
I don’t know what it is…but I just love something about the feel of this shot.
I also did a couple of shots inside the cab…NOT easy. There was much speeding and stopping short and bumping around in pot holes. I think I may have knocked myself in the face with the camera once or twice and I really wasn’t sure what I got, but I really like this quiet moment.
Sam and Brad…I had so much fun doing this session with you two. I can’t wait for the wedding! :-)
I think the dipping shot and getting into the cab shot are my two favs for sure! Great session! What a fun couple to photograph – it looks like they had a blast!
Those two cab shots are favorites of mine also. You are amazing Katie. I can’t wait for the wedding either.
Oh my Katie, these pictures are wonderful and I have to agree with Samantha…You are amazing!
Once again you have captured their pure love for each others. Thank you.
Woo! Sexy dipping shot! The whole sequence really conveys the date night idea. The pictures are great (as are her shoes!)
I love the energy in these shots! There’s such a fun, sexy, cosmopolitan vibe in all of them! Awesome!
