Today, Flo and I went out to “enjoy” the snow. We walked the few blocks to the local park. Or rather, we alternated between me carrying Florence like a limp sack of potatoes while the enormous sled bounced behind us, and me pulling the sled (or “boat” as she called it) while she sat in it and experienced mixed success at staying in an upright position. From there, it was mostly downhill (no pun intended…haha). She did not want to ride the sled around on hills or flat ground, she did not want to touch the snow in any way, and she did not seem able to walk in all the snow gear that she was wearing. For some unknown reason, she also did not want to leave. After about ten minutes, I called it. The trip home involved a mix of me carrying Florence like a limp sack of potatoes while the enormous sled bounced behind us, and me pulling the sled while she laid on her back in the sled, wailing at the top of her lungs at the injustice of the world as the snow fell on her face. Not taking a photo of that is probably one of my biggest mom fails to date. Here are the photos that I did take, of her looking rather wistful in the snow.
Once home and warm, I gave her the cookie that I had promised her on no less than twenty occasions between the park and home. Well deserved. I was also able to capture her giving me a dirty look, that I believe she learned from me and I suspect I will be seeing quite a bit in my future.
I hope everyone else has more success at playing in the snow tomorrow! (We may give it a go again too. I’m no quitter!) Stay warm!!
I loved reading about your adventures in the snow with Florence. What a fun time! The dirty look is so cute!
these are great pictures and also think that mean looking face is precious.,

Oh…I remember Don in the snow at this age! Same looks…he wasn’t happy! And now he lives in sunny California, far away from the white stuff. Florence is adorable, Katie, and your photography as gorgeous as ever. Your daughter will treasure reading this when she’s older!
Yes, she’s not exactly a snow bunny this one. Maybe she’s destined for California too! :-)
And thank you! (Sorry, the end of your message wasn’t showing up.) I hope she likes reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! :-)
I have always loved seeing your images even before your little bug. Now your images take me in they remind me of when my kids were little !! You capture such feeling!! I want to sketch all of your images just do not think I will be able to capture your emotions like you can with the camera…maybe some day!! so glad you stop and smell the flowers everyday!!!Enjoy!!!
Thank you so much for this sweet comment Diane! I’m just seeing it now and it made my night. :-)
Haha! This post made my day. Chris and I are cracking up over the entire scenario.
Awww…I’m so glad! That makes my day! :-)
