In honor of the holiday of love…I am giving away a free family session to one lucky family, to have their love for one another captured forever!
One of my favorite things about my job is getting to know the families I photograph on a personal level, and there’s no better way to do that than photographing the everyday, mundane moments they spend together and seeing the unique ways they show each other their love. I love photographing families as they are in their daily lives in their homes, and that’s what I want to do for you! So, to win a free, in-home, personal family session, just do the following: Tell me what an average day looks like for your family. What are the little ways you show each other your love? It can be as simple as story time, doing crafts or cuddling in bed before the day gets started. I want to know what special moments make your family unique or the routines that you want to remember forever. Send your email to katie [at] kmcmenamin.com. The email can be as long or short as you’d like but of course the more info I have, the better. :)
What you Win:
I will pick one entry and will come out to your home to capture your family in photographs. What you wrote in your email is what I will plan to photograph, so be prepared to just go about your regular routines! You’ll also get a gallery slideshow from your session posted online for 1 week and a 4×6 bound album of the best photos from the session.
The good news is that even if you don’t win, everyone who enters will still get a $50 print credit to be used on any session booked in 2012. Pretty sweet, right?
Rules:
-You must email me before February 29th, 5pm EST.
-The session must be scheduled and take place before April 30, 2012.
-You must be located within 35 miles of 19428 so that I can come out to you for our session.
-The session is non-transferable, and no credits for not scheduling your session in time will be given.
I can’t wait to read all your entries! I’ll email the winner once the contest wraps up.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hi Katie,
As new parents stumbling through the first year of this crazy wonderful adventure called parenthood, we’ve realized that fresh air is the key to family-life.
On Sundays, we bundle up baby and ourselves and walk down the picturesque brick-lined streets of our neighborhood towards the Main Street. We meet neighbors along the way, comment on the new storefronts and dream about the houses we wish we could afford. It’s also a time for us to connect as a couple and chat about things that aren’t laundry or schedules.
Inevitably the three of us end up at our favorite bagel shop where we sit outside to people and puppy watch, comment on the newspaper and of course, indulge in warm bagels (for baby) and coffee (for mom and dad).
It’s a simple moment in time. But it’s ours.
Thanks,
Andeep
After a week of work, daycare and the business of life, Sunday is the only time of the week where we can take time for ourselves and re-connect as a family.
Hi Katie!
Your contest entry was on my Facebook newsfeed and I am intrigued. I love your photos. You seem to capture beautiful, colorful, natural moments. I love it.
So, it has been 2 and 1/2 years since Dave and I got married and we are the overjoyed and tired parents of Seamus, 2, and Declan, 6 months. Our daily routine is really anything but routine to others, but we seem to make it work. Dave and I have odd schedules due to our work, but the time we get to spend together and with our babies is fun and meaningful.
If both Dave and I are working, the boys stay home with their Nana or a babysitter.
At dinnertime, we make it a point to sit down at the dinner table, say grace and eat together. Seamus is really cute when he says grace. When he crosses himself, he taps his upper arms with his hands and then he claps when he’s all finished.
After dinner, if Dave is home, he usually cleans up and I get the babies in the tub. This is my favorite part of the day. Seamus squeals with delight when the water is turned on and he loves to help wash his baby brother by dumping water on his tummy or head. And Declan just enjoys the fact that Seamus is paying attention to him!
And after bath time is Seamus’s favorite part of the day because he gets to run around and play naked. If the spirit moves him, he may play his ukulele and dance. That is a true delight. And Declan enjoys watching his big brother, no matter what he may be doing.
But, there are also nights when we break the routine and try to do something a little special. Like tonight, Dave and Seamus are camping in our living room. Seamus likes “a hot,” or a roaring fire in the fireplace. So, Dave has built a cozy fire and he and Seamus are laying in a tent with their woobies and are watching old cartoons. And our German shepherd is nestled in with them, too.
Our home isn’t big or fancy, but it’s beautiful because it’s filled with lots of love and laughter.
I hope you are well, Katie!
Take care and I look forward to looking at more of your great work.
Katie Kelly
